The number of people who have never heard of Hermann Sons Life amazes me. When they learn that we are part of the larger fraternal benefit system they usually ask, “What makes Hermann Sons Life different from other life insurance companies?” My answer is always the same: “It’s our members.”
Our members are not just insurance policy holders. They are the heartbeat of our organization.
They are the members of Kirby Lodge each year bringing together their local fire and police departments as well as other municipal groups for a special Flag Day ceremony to pay respect to our greatest symbol of freedom. And they are the lodges that make possible dozens of scholarships awarded each year to junior members pursuing higher education as they prepare to be the leaders of our communities.
They are the Kypfer-Salge Lodge members who hold a Valentine Bunco Party to raise funds for the St. Jude’s Ranch for children. And they are the members of Pershing Lodge who have perfected the art of preparing and serving large amounts of spaghetti to raise funds to overcome homelessness in San Antonio.
They are the members of Harmonia Lodge who Tee it Up for a Cause and raise funds for children with cancer and brave law enforcement officers, firefighters and their families. And they are the compassionate volunteers at our Hermann Sons Life Camp Grief Support Session who are helping children cope with the loss of a special loved one.
They are the members of Houston Lodge who joined hands with other Houston groups, more than 250 strong, for a day of volunteering at the Houston Food Bank. And they are the Paige Lodge members who sponsor an annual chili supper fund-raiser to benefit their local 4-H Club.
The list goes on and on. Hundreds of giving members and thousands of volunteer hours to do what we do best – strengthen community.
We are different! And it’s because of this that we can make a real difference in communities. Life insurance helps build stronger, more self-reliant communities. And the generosity and good deeds of our members builds compassionate communities.
